One of the main enhancements being introduced with MiCollab Release 9.0 is the introduction of a new chat engine for MiCollab that is powered by Mitel’s CloudLink infrastructure/platform.
With MiCollab Release 9.0, the way employees chat and share information is greatly enhanced, helping improve the speed and quality of decisions being made throughout the organisation from anywhere, at any time. With the new CloudLink chat engine users can expect:
With MiCollab R9.0, client can now be started and restarted without MiCollab server connectivity providing a level of functionality not possible on MiCollab 8.X. The MiCollab client will display warning messages about the missing server connection and that functionality will be limited.
With MiCollab Release 9.0 MiTeam is supported in Virtual Desktop Environments.
Today most participants join a MiCollab meeting using its AWV Web client and not its downloadable desktop-based client. To enhance this web experience, MiCollab Release 9.0 introduces the ability for collaboration participants to enjoy a full web-based collaboration experience while using a Chrome or Firefox browser, with the introduction of Two-Way Web Audio support within the Audio, Web, and Video Conferencing solution.
This new capability simplifies the user experience (in particular for external guests that are invited to a conference) since they no longer need to dial into the conference bridge anymore to participate in the meeting.
With MiCollab R8.0, the iOS Mobile client was enhanced with Apple Push Notification and iOS CallKit support that improved the user experience when using MiCollab on the iPhone. Now with MiCollab Release 9.0, the Mobile client for Android-based devices will also be enhanced with similar functionality using Android’s Push Notification and Android Connection Services*.
Support for Android Push Notification will improve the Android Mobile client user experience and help decrease the chance of users missing calls or chats to them because the client is not running actively in the foreground. Furthermore, support for Push Notifications also greatly improves battery consumption as the MiCollab client does not need to stay continuously registered with the server.The following notifications will be supported with Android Push Notifications:

While MiCollab offers powerful presence functionality to organisations enabling their employees to benefit from rich presence information of their colleagues; including availability information such as telephony line state, calendar information, Dynamic statuses, there is a growing request throughout the global market for user privacy – in particular aspects that touch upon a user private information and data.
To address the needs of those organisations (or the people within them) that desire not to give full visibility of presence to the whole organisation (for example, management/leadership teams), MiCollab Release 9.0 introduces Presence Privacy
MiCollab 9.0 now offers the possibility to turn on presence privacy within the MiCollab system with full flexibility for the administrator or the users within the organisation to control who should see what. It could be that some individuals in the company do not want to publish their presence to anyone or only allow certain people to see their presence information. add internal contacts to a Presence White List that limits access to their presence details to only those users whom they feel should have access to it (when Show Presence privacy is enabled). For example, Senior Leadership team/ executives of a company allowing other executives to see their presence but not the general company.NB. For customers who a) are not ready to move their services to the Cloud or b) are not able to / restricted from doing so because of location or regulations, Mitel offers the ability to deploy MiCollab on-site using its previous Chat Engine and not the new CloudLink chat engine. However, it should be noted that there will be no future development on it since the newly introduced cloud-based chat microservice is MiCollab’s path forward for Chat services.
